Explaining Viṣṇu’s Role at Dakṣa’s Sacrifice
अथ शंभुः प्रसन्नात्मा तज्जपाद्भक्तवत्सलः । आविर्बभूव पुरतस्तस्य प्रीत्या महामुने
atha śaṃbhuḥ prasannātmā tajjapādbhaktavatsalaḥ | āvirbabhūva puratastasya prītyā mahāmune
Kemudian Śambhu, yang hatinya berkenan dan sentiasa mengasihi para bhakta, tersentuh oleh japa itu, lalu menzahirkan diri-Nya tepat di hadapannya—demi kasih, wahai maha muni.

Sthala Purana: General Purāṇic motif: Śiva becomes sākṣāt-pratyakṣa (directly manifest) due to mantra-japa and bhakti; not tied here to a specific Jyotirliṅga site narrative.
Significance: Affirms that sincere japa and devotion culminate in Śiva’s direct grace (darśana), the paradigmatic fruit of pilgrimage and worship.
Role: liberating
It teaches that sincere japa performed with devotion pleases Pati (Śiva), and His grace becomes tangible as direct presence (darśana), showing the Shaiva emphasis on bhakti empowered by mantra.
Although Śiva is ultimately beyond form (nirguṇa), this verse highlights His saguna compassion—He willingly becomes manifest before the devotee, just as He accepts worship through the Liṅga as an accessible focus for devotion.
Regular mantra-japa (repetition with attention and devotion) is implied; in Shaiva practice this is commonly supported by rudrākṣa for counting and accompanied by purity disciplines such as bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and focused meditation on Śiva.
