Satī Encounters Disrespect at Dakṣa’s Sacrifice
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the glory of Śiva to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya, within the Satīkhaṇḍa context)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that the highest refuge is Śiva’s lotus feet: the realized and the earnest seeker alike attain all true aims—dharma, artha, kāma refined by righteousness, and ultimately mokṣa—through reverent devotion and inner absorption.
In Purāṇic Śaiva practice, the Liṅga is the accessible (saguṇa) focus through which one approaches the transcendent (nirguṇa) reality; this verse emphasizes that worship culminating in surrender at Śiva’s feet grants both worldly welfare and liberation.
Single-pointed contemplation and devoted service (sevā) to Śiva—especially Liṅga-pūjā with mantra-japa such as the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—is implied as the practical means to “taste” brahma-rasa and receive sarvārtha (all worthy attainments).
