Divine Pavilion and Canopy; Summoning the Gods
Sūta Gosvāmī (narrating the episode; the immediate utterance is by a celestial voice)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: teaching
The verse highlights ākaśavāṇī (a divine proclamation) as Shiva’s grace operating through the cosmos—guiding events so that truth is heard by all, and especially by Satī, whose devotion and discernment are central in this episode.
By directly addressing Maheśvara in narrative form, the Purana emphasizes Saguna Shiva—Shiva who responds, guides, and protects devotees—supporting devotional worship (bhakti) that later culminates in Linga-centered reverence as the accessible form of the Supreme.
A key takeaway is śravaṇa (sacred listening): regularly hearing Shiva-kathā and mantra (such as the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with focused attention, as divine guidance often unfolds through what is rightly heard.
