Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches śiṣṭācāra (refined conduct): restraint in movement, speech, and trust. In Shaiva practice, guarding what is sacred and acting with humility supports inner purity, which is essential for bhakti and for the soul (paśu) to move toward Shiva (Pati).
Linga-worship emphasizes sanctity and disciplined approach—entering holy spaces properly and receiving teachings with reverence. The verse mirrors temple etiquette and the principle that mantras, vrata-rules, and subtle meanings are to be received and shared only with proper adhikāra (fitness).
It implies maintaining vrata-discipline: quiet, respectful conduct, controlled speech, and not publicizing one’s japa, mantra-instructions, or personal sādhana. Practically, keep Panchakshara japa and Tripuṇḍra/Rudrākṣa observances steady and private rather than performative.
