मेनायाः क्रोध-विलापः — Menā’s Lament and Reproach

किं कृतं ते सुते दुष्टे कर्म दुःखकरं मम । हेम दत्त्वा त्वयानीतः काचो वै दुष्टया स्वयम्
kiṃ kṛtaṃ te sute duṣṭe karma duḥkhakaraṃ mama | hema dattvā tvayānītaḥ kāco vai duṣṭayā svayam
“Wahai anak perempuan yang durhaka, perbuatan menyakitkan apakah yang engkau lakukan terhadapku? Setelah menyerahkan emas, engkau kembali membawa kaca semata—sesungguhnya engkau sendiri, kerana hati yang menyimpang, telah melakukannya.”

It highlights how adharma—deception and wrong exchange—creates immediate sorrow and karmic consequence, reinforcing that purity of intention and truthful conduct are essential in a Shaiva life oriented toward grace (anugraha) and liberation.
Though not a direct ritual verse, it supports the ethical foundation required for Saguna Shiva worship: offerings and vows must be sincere, not deceitful—otherwise devotion becomes hollow, like exchanging gold for glass.
A practical takeaway is to purify intention before worship—perform japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with satya (truthfulness) and inner honesty, treating offerings and vows as sacred commitments.
