Menā’s Lament and Reproach
to the Sage
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Establishes Rudra/Śambhu as sarvaprabhava (source of all); supports tīrtha-darśana as approach to the Veda-praised Pati.
Type: stotra
It identifies Rudra/Śambhu as the direct Supreme Lord (Pati), the origin of all, and the giver of bliss—affirming that Shiva’s supremacy is Veda-supported and spiritually central for liberation-oriented devotion.
By praising Śambhu as Īśvara described in the Śrutis, it supports Saguna worship—such as Linga-upāsanā—as a valid means to approach the Supreme who is also transcendent, with the form serving as an auspicious focus for devotion and realization.
Meditate on Rudra as sarva-prabhava Īśvara while repeating the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and perform Shiva-pūjā (including Linga worship) with a focus on Śambhu as the giver of sukha and inner peace.
