Reception of the Auspicious Marriage Invitation
Narada
Tattva Level: pashu
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga narrative; it opens a new chapter with Nārada’s respectful address to Brahmā after hearing the prior wondrous account.
Significance: Highlights guru-paramparā and reverence to the transmitter of sacred lore; for Śaiva Siddhānta, right knowledge (jñāna) arises through śravaṇa from an authorized source, preparing the paśu for liberation.
Mantra: namo'stu te
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
It models the Shaiva virtue of śraddhā and vinaya—receiving sacred narration with humility, honoring the teacher as a conduit of grace (kṛpā) that ripens the listener for Shiva-bhakti and right understanding.
Before Linga/Saguna Shiva worship is taught, the Purana establishes proper adhikāra (readiness): respectful listening (śravaṇa) to the guru-like narrator. Such śravaṇa is itself a limb of bhakti that supports later ritual and contemplation of Shiva’s manifest forms.
The implied practice is kathā-śravaṇa (devotional listening) with reverence—beginning with salutations, cultivating humility, and mentally offering the fruit of hearing to Lord Shiva as bhakti.
