कोपागारमगात्सा हि सुतप्ता मलिनाम्बरा । कृत्वा महाहठं विप्रा बोध्यमानापिऽनाबुधत्
kopāgāramagātsā hi sutaptā malināmbarā | kṛtvā mahāhaṭhaṃ viprā bodhyamānāpi'nābudhat
Wahai para brāhmaṇa, dia—terbakar oleh derita batin dan berpakaian kotor—masuk ke kamar kemarahan. Setelah mengambil tekad keras yang besar, dia tidak mengendahkan walaupun dinasihati berulang kali.

The verse highlights how intense emotional heat (sutaptā) and rigid insistence (mahāhaṭha) can veil discernment. In a Shaiva Siddhanta lens, such veiling is a form of bondage that must be purified so devotion and right understanding can mature toward Shiva.
Though the verse is narrative, it contrasts inner turbulence with the steadiness sought in Saguna Shiva worship. Linga-upāsanā trains the mind toward composure, surrender, and receptivity—qualities opposed to the stubborn refusal to heed counsel shown here.
A practical takeaway is to calm agitation before worship: sit quietly, repeat the Panchakshara mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with steady breath, and approach Shiva with humility rather than insistence—so counsel, scripture, and conscience can be received clearly.
