देवस्तुतिः (Deva-stuti) — “Hymn of the Devas / Divine Praise”
हिमाचल उवाच । अद्य मे सफलं जन्म सफलं सुमहत्तपः । अद्य मे सफलं ज्ञानमद्य मे सफलाः क्रियाः
himācala uvāca | adya me saphalaṃ janma saphalaṃ sumahattapaḥ | adya me saphalaṃ jñānamadya me saphalāḥ kriyāḥ
Himācala berkata: “Hari ini kelahiranku menjadi berbuah; berbuah juga tapa pertapaanku yang agung. Hari ini pengetahuanku telah berbuah, dan hari ini segala amalan suciku telah berjaya.”
Himācala (Himavān), King of the Mountains
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
The verse expresses the Shaiva Siddhanta principle that human birth, austerity, knowledge, and religious practice become truly ‘fruitful’ only when they culminate in the Lord’s grace (Śiva as Pati) and a decisive turning of life toward divine purpose.
Himācala’s declaration highlights that external and internal disciplines (kriyā and jñāna) reach fulfillment when oriented toward Saguna Shiva worship—such as devotion to Shiva’s manifest presence (including Linga worship)—which becomes the channel for receiving Shiva’s anugraha (grace).
The takeaway is to unify tapas (discipline), jñāna (right understanding), and kriyā (ritual observance) in Shiva-centered devotion—practically through steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” along with regular Shiva-pūjā as one’s daily observance.
