Quelling the Fire of the Third Eye
Vāḍava Fire Placed in the Ocean
Lord Shiva (narrating to a sage)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It highlights Shiva as Pati (the supreme Lord) who receives reverent surrender even from cosmic powers like the Ocean; once the divine purpose is fulfilled, Shiva returns to his abode, indicating the Lord’s sovereign freedom and the peace that follows right completion of dharma.
The verse reflects Saguna Shiva as personally present and worthy of pranama (prostration). Linga-worship similarly trains the devotee to approach Shiva with humility, reverence, and recognition of Shiva’s lordship over all tattvas and cosmic elements.
Practice pranama with Panchakshara japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya")—mentally bowing to Shiva—cultivating inner contentment (santuṣṭa-cetas) and surrender, which are central to Shaiva devotion.
