FAQs

It highlights how limited minds fall into doubt when confronting Shiva’s absolute sovereignty (Pati). In Shaiva Siddhanta terms, certainty arises when one understands that saṃhāra (withdrawal) is not arbitrary cruelty but a divine function governing the cosmos and the soul’s maturation.

The verse points to Shiva as the all-powerful Lord who can withdraw the universe; the Śiva-liṅga is worshipped as the tangible (saguṇa) focus through which devotees contemplate this transcendent authority—moving from fear and doubt to trust and surrender.

A practical takeaway is japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with steady contemplation on Shiva as the Lord of saṃhāra, using vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa as aids to stabilize the mind and reduce doubt.
