The Determination of Śiva as the Meaning of Praṇava
अत्रेति पितरः पश्चात्साक्षतोदं समर्च्य च । दद्यात्ततः क्रमेणैव देवादिस्थानपञ्चके
atreti pitaraḥ paścātsākṣatodaṃ samarcya ca | dadyāttataḥ krameṇaiva devādisthānapañcake
Kemudian, dengan mengucapkan “atretī” (seruan bagi para Pitṛ), hendaklah memuja para Pitṛ secara langsung; sesudah itu, menurut tertib yang sama, hendaklah dipersembahkan pada lima tempat suci yang bermula dengan para dewa.

It emphasizes niyama (right order) in worship: honoring Pitṛs and then offering in a prescribed sequence purifies the worshipper’s karmic ties, supporting a Shaiva life of discipline that leads toward Shiva’s grace.
In Shaiva practice, orderly offerings to devas and Pitṛs are supportive rites (aṅga) that steady the mind and remove obstacles; this prepares the devotee for focused Saguna Shiva/Liṅga worship where devotion culminates in Shiva’s anugraha (grace).
A structured offering practice: invoke the Pitṛs with the stated utterance, worship them directly, then give offerings sequentially in the five designated stations beginning with the devas—performed with mindful attention and purity.
