The Determination of Śiva as the Meaning of Praṇava
Suta Goswami (narrating the Kailāsasaṃhitā teaching to the sages, conveying Śiva’s form-doctrine)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Role: teaching
It maps Śiva’s fivefold divinity onto contemplative “seats” (crown, face, heart, secret center), teaching that the Saguna form is a deliberate yogic support for realizing Pati (Śiva) as the indwelling ruler who purifies and liberates the bound soul (paśu).
In Śaiva practice the Liṅga is worshipped as Śiva’s accessible Saguna support; this verse explains how devotees may meditate on distinct divine aspects (Īśāna, Puruṣa/Tatpuruṣa, Aghora, Vāmadeva) within that worship, integrating outer ritual with inner visualization.
Meditate on Śiva’s aspects in the body—Īśāna at the crown, Aghora in the heart, Vāmadeva in the secret center—while japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and steady Liṅga-dhyāna, aligning inner awareness with Śiva’s purifying presence.
