Wahai Saumitri, tanpa engkau di sisiku, aku akan menyelam ke lautan dan berbaring; barangkali dewa Kama yang menyala itu tidak akan membakar aku ketika aku tidur di dalam air.
O Saumitri! Plunging into water alone I will lie down. Probably then the god of love will not be able to consume me while sleeping.
Dharma is reliance on rightful support: the speaker values the presence of a devoted companion (Lakṣmaṇa) and seeks a disciplined way to master distress rather than act destructively.
Overwhelmed by the ‘fire’ of separation, the speaker tells Lakṣmaṇa he may immerse himself in the ocean to cool that anguish.
Fraternal trust and loyalty—Lakṣmaṇa is addressed as indispensable support in sustaining the righteous mission.
