Indrajit’s Concealed Assault and the Fall of Rama and Lakshmana
नह्यविद्धंतयोर्गात्रेबभूवाङ्गुळमन्तरम् ।नानिर्भिन्नंनचास्तब्दमाकराग्रादजिह्मगैः ।।6.45.20।।
na hy aviddhaṃ tayor gātre babhūvāṅguḷam antaram |
nānirbhinnaṃ na cāstabdam ākarāgrād ajihmagaiḥ ||6.45.20||
Pada tubuh kedua-duanya, tidak tersisa walau selebar jari pun yang tidak ditembusi; dari kepala hingga ke hujung kaki, tiada satu tempat pun yang tidak terbelah atau tergoncang oleh anak-anak panah yang meluru lurus itu.
Not an inch of space on their bodies remained without being pierced. Not even a part of the body was left unshaken, unhurt, or wounded.
The verse underscores that dharmic duty can involve extreme personal cost; righteousness is maintained by steadfastness even when the body is overwhelmed.
The narration describes the intensity of Indrajit’s attack: the brothers are so struck that no space on their bodies is left untouched.
Unyielding resolve (dhṛti): their role as protectors persists in meaning even when their physical strength is momentarily crushed.
