सीतावृत्तान्तनिवेदनम् / Report of Sītā’s Condition and Tokens of Recognition
दुःख मासाद्यते देवी तथाऽदुःखोचिता सती।।।।रावणान्तः पुरे रुद्धा राक्षसीभि स्सुरक्षिता।एकवेणीधरा दीना त्वयि चिन्तापरायणा।।।।अधःशय्या विवर्णाङ्गी पद्मिनीव हिमागमे।रावणाद्विनिवृत्तार्था मर्तव्यकृतनिश्चया।।।।देवी कथञ्चित्काकुत्स्थ त्वन्मना मार्गिता मया।
duḥkham āsādyate devī tathā 'duḥkha-ucitā satī |
rāvaṇāntaḥ pure ruddhā rākṣasībhiḥ surakṣitā |
ekaveṇīdharā dīnā tvayi cintā-parāyaṇā ||
Dewi mulia itu—yang sepatutnya menikmati bahagia—kini ditimpa derita. Dikurung dalam istana dalam Rāvaṇa dan dikawal ketat oleh para rākṣasī; rambutnya hanya berjalin satu, dirinya lemah dan hiba, serta seluruh fikirannya tertumpu kepadamu.
"Sita, who did not deserve and yet was full of grief was detained by Ravana in his inner palace, guarded by ogresses. She had single braid (a sign of desolation), was pathetic, and totally absorbed in your thought. She was lying on bare ground with her limbs turned pale, like lotus in winter. She was averse to Ravana and was determined to commit suicide. She has only Rama in her mind. Somehow I found her.
