अहमप्यस्य भीतास्मि नैनं जानामि को न्वयं।वेद्मि राक्षसमेवैनं कामरूपिणमागतम्।।5.42.10।।
aham apy asya bhītāsmi nainaṃ jānāmi ko nv ayaṃ |
vedmi rākṣasam evainaṃ kāmarūpiṇam āgatam ||
Aku juga takut akan dia; aku tidak mengetahui siapakah orang ini. Yang aku tahu hanyalah: dia seorang raksasa (rākṣasa) yang datang ke sini, mampu berubah rupa sesuka hati.
"I am also scared of him. I do not know who he is. I think he is a demon, who came here assuming a form of his choice.
Satya within vulnerability: even in fear, Sītā speaks carefully—she admits what she does not know and states only what she can infer, modeling truthful restraint.
In the turmoil at the Aśoka grove, Sītā reacts to a frightening unknown presence and voices her apprehension to the rākṣasī guards.
