Lakshmana’s Wrath and the Summoning of Sugriva
'O king! be true to your promise to his brother, righteous Rama without fail. Honour the agreement.'ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē kiṣkindhākāṇḍē ēkatriṅśassargaḥ৷৷Thus ends the thirtyfirst sarga of Kishkindakanda of the Holy Ramayana, the first epic, composed by sage Valmiki.
Satya as dharma: the moral duty to keep one’s pledged word and honor agreements, especially in alliances founded on trust.
In response to Lakshmana’s arrival, Angada presses Sugriva to obey Rama’s message and fulfill the promised commitment without delay.
Truthfulness and reliability—being ‘satya-pratiśravāḥ’, one whose promise is dependable.
