Vali’s Funeral Rites and the Consolation of the Bereaved
तादृशं वालिनः क्षिप्रं प्राकुर्वन्नौर्ध्वदैहिकम्।अङ्गदं परिगृह्याऽशु तारप्रभृतयस्तदा4.25.32।।क्रोशन्तः प्रययुस्सर्वे वानरा हतबान्धवाः।
tādṛśaṁ vālinaḥ kṣipraṁ prākurvann aurdhvadehikam |
aṅgadaṁ parigṛhyāśu tārāprabhṛtayaḥ tadā || 4.25.32 ||
krośantaḥ prayayus sarve vānarā hatabāndhavāḥ |
Demikianlah upacara kematian Vāli segera dilaksanakan dengan cara yang layak. Ketika itu Tārā dan yang lain-lain, segera memimpin Aṅgada, dan semua wanara—kehilangan sanak—berangkat sambil meraung tangis.
Tara, Angada and the other bereaved monkeys hastened to perform the funeralceremony of Vali-weeping.
Dharma balances grief with obligation: even in bereavement, the community must complete necessary rites and support the heir (Aṅgada).
Vāli’s obsequies begin promptly; Tārā and others escort Aṅgada as the mourning vānara host proceeds, wailing.
Familial responsibility and collective solidarity—protecting the prince while fulfilling duties for the deceased.
