Sarabhanga, performer of sacred deeds, saw Brahma with his followers৷৷ Brahma also seeing Sarabhanga, the best among the brahmins, welcomed him gladly.ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē araṇyakāṇḍē pañcamaḥ sargaḥ৷৷Thus ends the fifth sarga of Aranyakanda of the holy Ramayana the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
Dharma is shown as honoring spiritual merit: the divine (Brahmā) recognizes and welcomes the ascetic whose life is grounded in righteous deeds and tapas.
In the Śarabhanga episode (Aranya Kāṇḍa, Sarga 5), Brahmā arrives with attendants; Śarabhanga sees him, and Brahmā warmly greets the sage.
Śarabhanga’s puṇya and brahminical excellence—steadfast sacred conduct that earns reverence even from the highest deity.
