Akampana Reports Janasthana; Ravana Plans Sita’s Abduction
कच्चित्सुकुशलं राजन्लोकानां राक्षसेश्वर।आशङ्के नाथ जाने त्वं यतस्तूर्णमिहागतः।।3.31.38।।
kaccit sukuśalaṃ rājan lokānāṃ rākṣaseśvara |
āśaṅke nātha jāne tvaṃ yatas tūrṇam ihāgataḥ || 3.31.38 ||
“Wahai Raja, tuan para rākṣasa, adakah rakyat jelata berada dalam sejahtera? Namun, wahai junjunganku, hamba bimbang ada kesusahan, kerana tuanku datang ke mari dengan begitu tergesa-gesa.”
O lord of demons ! O king! hope every one is fine in the world of demons. O lord, (though) your sudden arrival puts me in doubt (about everything going right).
It models prudent inquiry and truth-oriented speech: one should ask after welfare, yet honestly note signs of danger rather than flatter.
Mārīca greets Rāvaṇa, checks on the state of affairs, and infers that urgent news has driven him to come.
