जटायुस्संवादः — Encounter with Jaṭāyu and the Genealogy of Beings
Aranyakanda 14
रोहिण्यजनयद् गावो गन्धर्वी वाजिनः सुतान्।
सुरसाऽजनयन्नागान्राम कद्रूस्तु पन्नगान्।।3.14.28।।
rohiṇy ajanayad gāvo gandharvī vājinaḥ sutān |
surasā janayan nāgān rāma kadrūs tu pannagān ||3.14.28||
Rohiṇī melahirkan lembu-lembu; Gandharvī melahirkan kuda-kuda sebagai zuriat. Surasā melahirkan para Nāga, wahai Rāma, manakala Kadrū melahirkan para pannaga, ular-ular yang lain.
O Rama! Rohini procreated cows, and Gandharvi, horses as offsprings. Surasa delivered cobras and Kadru, ordinary serpents.
The verse portrays a world of diverse beings arising through lawful order. Dharma is the recognition of plurality within a single cosmic structure, encouraging right relationship rather than confusion or hostility.
Jaṭāyu continues cataloging progeny within a mythic genealogy, linking well-known classes of beings to their mothers.
Steadiness in truthful recounting (satya-vacana) and didactic clarity.
