Pilgrimage Merits
Pulastya (in discourse to Bhīṣma)
Concept: Tīrtha-snāna bears full fruit when joined to brahmacarya and samādhāna (collected mind).
Application: When visiting sacred places (or even in daily bathing), add a vow of restraint, a brief japa, and mindful intention rather than treating ritual as mere tourism.

Sandhi Resolution Notes:
Gaṅgā-hrada is named as a tīrtha (sacred bathing place), implying a sanctified pool or lake associated with the Gaṅgā where ritual bathing is considered spiritually efficacious.
The verse links tīrtha-bathing with inner discipline: continence (brahmacarya) and a concentrated mind (samāhita) frame the act as a dharmic practice, not merely a physical bath.
Sacred acts are presented as most fruitful when performed with self-restraint and mindful intention—outer purity is meant to be accompanied by inner purity.
