Not explicitly identified in the provided verse (context-dependent within Adhyaya 82).

Concept: Reciting, hearing, or even beholding Viṣṇu’s worship with devotion grants merit and purifies even the sinful; bhakti is accessible through multiple gateways (pāṭha, śravaṇa, darśana).

Application: Attend worship regularly; listen to stotras; if unable to perform elaborate rites, begin with reverent darśana and hearing—small consistent acts reshape character.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

It presents śravaṇa and paṭhana as direct means of merit: devoted listening or reciting the praise is described as fame-giving and spiritually beneficial, even for those burdened by sin.

The promised fruit is tied to bhaktyā—devotion—showing that the inner attitude (devotional hearing, recitation, or witnessing worship) is central to the verse’s spiritual efficacy.

The verse underscores inclusivity and moral transformation: even “pātakins” (sinners) can gain merit through sincere devotional engagement—reciting, hearing, or taking darśana of Viṣṇu’s worship.
