Vyāsa (as narrator/respondent after the inquiry about Gaṅgā)
Concept: Sacred rivers are not merely physical; their name, form, and origin are theological—knowing them through kathā is itself purifying.

Sandhi Resolution Notes:
It frames Gaṅgā as “atipāvanī” (supremely purifying) and opens a narrative inquiry into her name, form, and origin, which Vyāsa promises to explain through an ancient sacred account.
It uses a question-and-answer transition: an inquiry about a revered entity (Gaṅgā) is immediately followed by the authoritative speaker (Vyāsa) inviting listeners to hear a traditional, sanctifying story.
The epithet underscores the Purāṇic ideal that contact with sacred realities—especially tīrthas like Gaṅgā—supports purification and moral renewal, encouraging reverence, humility, and spiritually oriented conduct.
