Unspecified (context needed from surrounding verses); addressed to 'Ravi-suta' (son of the Sun).

Concept: Ritual substances have contextual rules: āmalakī is praised as excellent in yajña and general deva-pūjā, but is restricted in Sūrya-upāsanā (as clarified by the following verses).

Application: When adopting spiritual practices, learn the specific do’s/don’ts of the tradition (tithi, deity-specific rules) instead of assuming one remedy fits all contexts.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A Vedic ritual pavilion with a small sacred fire: priests arrange offerings while a bowl of glossy green āmalakī fruits sits among clarified butter and flowers. In a separate vignette-like corner, a radiant Sūrya icon is shown with distinct offerings, subtly indicating the exception—āmalakī kept aside from the Sun’s worship.","primary_figures":["Vedic priests (ṛtviks)","a yajamāna (patron)","symbolic Sūrya-deva icon"],"setting":"yajña-śālā with fire altar, ladles, kusa grass, offering trays; side niche with Sūrya image and arghya vessel","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["fire orange","sandalwood beige","sacred ash gray","leaf green","sun gold"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: richly ornamented yajña-śālā with blazing agni, priests in white, āmalakī fruits on a brass tray; to the side, a radiant Sūrya panel with separate offerings, āmalakī respectfully set apart; gold leaf flames and halos, deep reds/greens, gem-like detailing on vessels and ornaments.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: elegant ritual pavilion with fine-lined implements, soft smoke from agni; āmalakī bowl rendered with delicate highlights; a small inset of Sūrya with arghya, showing āmalakī placed away; cool refined palette with warm fire accents, lyrical composition.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: central agni altar, priests in stylized poses, bold outlines; Sūrya in a circular halo at the margin with distinct offering set; āmalakī tray clearly labeled by placement; strong reds/yellows/greens, temple mural symmetry.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: ceremonial layout with ornate borders; agni at center, offerings arranged symmetrically including āmalakī; upper register shows Sūrya medallion with separate arghya ritual, āmalakī motif absent near Sūrya; deep blues and gold with floral patterns."}

FAQs

It states that āmalakī fruit is praised and suitable for use in sacrificial and ritual activities, and generally acceptable in deity worship.

The verse explicitly carves out Sun-worship as an exception; it implies that the āmalakī offering-rule differs for Ravi, reflecting deity-specific ritual prescriptions.

Ritual practice should be discerning and tradition-guided: even generally recommended offerings may have specific exceptions, so one should follow context-sensitive dharma rather than apply rules mechanically.
