महादेवेन तत्पीतं विषं गृह्य यदृच्छया । तस्य पानान्नीलकंठस्तदा जातो महेश्वरः

mahādevena tatpītaṃ viṣaṃ gṛhya yadṛcchayā | tasya pānānnīlakaṃṭhastadā jāto maheśvaraḥ

Mahādeva, sebagaimana takdir menghendaki, mengangkat racun itu lalu meminumnya. Kerana minuman itu, Maheśvara ketika itu dikenali sebagai Nīlakaṇṭha, Tuhan yang berleher biru.
