FAQs

They are fierce, protective forms of Devī praised for destroying negativity and fear—Cāmuṇḍā as a slayer of demonic forces, and Kālarātri as the terrifying, time-associated night aspect that overcomes darkness and danger.

It presents the Goddess as a remover of harmful influences—spirits, afflictions, and fear—so the verse functions as a protective invocation (rakṣā-stuti) seeking safety and inner steadiness.

The verse models śaraṇāgati (taking refuge): acknowledging a higher protective power, cultivating humility through namas (obeisance), and seeking the removal of harmful tendencies—both external and internal.
