Unspecified in the provided excerpt (context-dependent dialogue within Padma Purāṇa, Sṛṣṭikhaṇḍa 29).

Concept: Ritual efficacy depends on correct kāla (month), dravya (substance), and mantra—outer order supporting inner devotion.

Application: When doing any devotional act, match intention with method: keep cleanliness, use appropriate materials, and speak the giving-mantra mindfully rather than mechanically.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A ritual table displays a polished cow horn filled with clear water, beside a palm-leaf manuscript of mantras and a small offering bowl. The devotee recites the dāna-mantra while the month ‘Madhu’ is symbolized by spring blossoms; a second vignette hints at Vaiśākha with earthen purity and cow-dung cakes prepared for sanctification.","primary_figures":["devotee (ritual performer)","brāhmaṇa guide (optional)","symbolic sacred cow (background presence)"],"setting":"clean altar space with cow horn vessel, mantra text, offering implements; seasonal cues for Madhu (spring) and Vaiśākha (early summer)","lighting_mood":"golden dawn","color_palette":["crystal white","honey gold","spring green","earth brown","saffron"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: close-up sacred still-life—cow horn vessel brimming with sanctified water, mantra palm-leaf, brass lamp, and offering bowl; a gentle cow in the background with gold-leaf highlights; rich vermilion backdrop, ornate borders, and shimmering gold leaf emphasizing mantra potency and purity rules.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate ritual scene on a veranda; delicate hands hold a cow horn cup while lips form the dāna-mantra; spring flowers denote Madhu; a second panel shows Vaiśākha with earthen tones and prepared cow-dung cakes; cool, refined palette and lyrical naturalism.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: stylized cow horn and ritual implements with bold outlines; the performer in frontal pose chanting; seasonal motifs (flowers, sun) in the margins; strong red/yellow/green pigments and temple-wall symmetry.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: decorative border of cows, lotuses, and mantra-script motifs; central cow horn vessel as sacred emblem; Nathdwara-like floral intricacy, deep indigo field with gold accents, emphasizing go-sevā and sanctified giving."}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: विशेषोयं → विशेषः + अयम्; गोशृंगांबु → गोशृङ्गाम्बु (गोशृङ्ग + अम्बु).

FAQs

It assigns month-specific ritual substances: ‘gośṛṅgāmbu’ (cow-horn water) in Madhu, and ‘gomaya’ (cow-dung) in Vaiśākha, indicating that observances can vary with the sacred calendar.

The verse frames the instruction as a ‘viśeṣa’ (special rule) applying both to the act of partaking (prāśana) and to the mantra connected with donation (dāna-mantra), implying coordinated procedure for offering/consumption and giving.

The implied lesson is disciplined observance: purity and intention are maintained by following prescribed rules (vidhi) appropriate to time and context, aligning personal practice with dharmic order.
