The Aśūnyaśayanā Vow (Unempty Bed) and the Aṅgāraka Caturthī Observance

FAQs

It links household harmony with dharma: marital discord is portrayed as spiritually harmful (even affecting ancestral welfare), and the ideal of inseparability is illustrated through Lakṣmī and Hari (Viṣṇu).

They function as the archetype of divine union—Viṣṇu is traditionally described as never being without Lakṣmī—so the verse uses that model to pray against separation and conflict.

To protect family stability and uphold dharma by avoiding needless rupture in marriage, since such discord is framed as having wider moral and ritual consequences, including concern for one’s Pitṛs (ancestors).
