FAQs

It recommends sponsoring or arranging Purāṇa recitation/hearing (purāṇa-śravaṇa) and giving generous dakṣiṇā (honoraria/charitable gifts) to the officiants/reciters.

It promises fertility and familial well-being: many children (bahv-apatyā) and specifically living offspring (jīva-vatsā), stated as certain (“no doubt”).

The verse frames giving as an integral part of religious listening/recitation—spiritual participation is paired with material support of sacred learning and its transmitters.
