Brāhmaṇa-Mahimā and Pādodaka Merit
नश्यंति सर्वपापानि द्विजहत्यादिकानि च । कणमात्रं भजेद्यस्तु विप्रांघ्रिसलिलं नरः
naśyaṃti sarvapāpāni dvijahatyādikāni ca | kaṇamātraṃ bhajedyastu viprāṃghrisalilaṃ naraḥ
Segala dosa lenyap—bahkan dosa besar seperti membunuh brāhmaṇa—apabila seseorang meminum dengan bhakti walau setitis air basuhan kaki brāhmaṇa.
Unspecified (narratorial verse within Padma Purāṇa, Brahma-khaṇḍa context)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Sandhi Resolution Notes: नश्यंति = नश्यन्ति; भजेद्यस्तु = भजेत् यः तु; विप्रांघ्रिसलिलं = विप्राङ्घ्रिसलिलम् (विप्र + अङ्घ्रि + सलिल).
It describes purification through receiving (partaking of) even a drop of water that has washed a brāhmaṇa’s feet (viprāṅghri-salila).
That such contact with sanctified water is presented as a powerful means of pāpa-kṣaya (destruction of sin), even for serious transgressions.
It elevates respect for the virtuous and the sacred (especially brāhmaṇas as custodians of dharma) and frames humility and reverence as connected to inner purification.
