Unspecified (context likely a narrator/teacher addressing a listener within the Bhūmi-khaṇḍa dialogue frame)

Concept: Properly framed recitation (knowing ṛṣi, chandas, devatā) supports the stotra’s purificatory power—ritual correctness as a vehicle for bhakti.

Application: Before chanting, set intention and context: remember the lineage (ṛṣi), the divine focus (devatā), and keep steady rhythm (chandas) to cultivate attention and reverence.

Primary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

It follows the traditional Vedic/Mantra convention of stating the “ṛṣi” (seer) and “chandas” (metre) to frame the hymn’s sacred transmission and recitational form before giving the names.

By presenting Viṣṇu’s names as “sarvapāpaviśodhanam” (purifying all sins), it highlights devotional recitation (nāma-japa/stotra) as a spiritually transformative practice.

It implies that sincere remembrance and recitation of the divine names supports moral reform—turning the mind away from harmful actions and toward devotion, restraint, and righteous conduct.
