Narrator (colophon/ending formula; not part of the dialogue)

Concept: Textual closure functions as dharma-sealing: the chapter’s subject (mother-and-father tīrtha) is affirmed as a complete, authoritative teaching.

Application: Treat spiritual study as a disciplined practice: complete what you begin; revisit chapter titles as reminders of lived duties (mātṛ-pitṛ-sevā).

Primary Rasa: shanta

Type: tirtha

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A manuscript folio rests on a carved wooden stand, the chapter title inscribed in elegant Nāgarī, while a small lamp burns steadily beside it. In the background, faint silhouettes of pilgrims at a tīrtha and a son offering water to ancestors suggest that the text itself is a gateway to sacred action.","primary_figures":["Scribe (optional)","Anonymous reciter (optional)"],"setting":"Temple library corner or āśrama study hall with palm-leaf bundles, ink pot, and a small shrine niche.","lighting_mood":"temple lamp-lit","color_palette":["lamp amber","ink black","palm-leaf tan","vermilion","deep indigo"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: sacred manuscript on a stand with a gold-leaf border; a brass lamp with bright flame; subtle background vignette of a tīrtha with devotees; ornate floral frame, rich reds and greens, gold embellishment emphasizing the sanctity of scripture.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: quiet study scene with delicate rendering of palm leaves and lamp glow; soft shadows; a distant riverbank vignette in pale washes; refined, minimal figures, contemplative mood.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: stylized manuscript and lamp with bold outlines; decorative borders; warm yellow-red dominance; symbolic depiction of tīrtha and tarpaṇa in simplified iconographic panels.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central manuscript-lamp motif framed by lotus and floral borders; small narrative medallions showing tīrtha snāna and offerings; deep blue ground with gold and vermilion highlights, symmetrical ornamentation."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"meditative","suggested_raga":null,"pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"authoritative","sound_elements":["single bell strike","page rustle","soft drone","brief silence (end cadence)"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: भूमिखंडेवेनोपाख्याने = भूमिखण्डे + वेन + उपाख्याने (ए + व → एव); चतुरशीतितमोऽध्यायः = चतुरशीतितमः + अध्यायः (विसर्ग-लोप)।

FAQs

It is a colophon (chapter-ending formula) that identifies the text (Padma Purāṇa), section (Bhūmi-khaṇḍa), sub-narrative (Vena-upākhyāna), chapter title, and chapter number.

It denotes a sacred place (tīrtha) associated with honoring one’s mother and father, framed as a “māhātmya” topic—i.e., the spiritual merit and significance of that tīrtha and related duties.

It functions like a traditional metadata marker: it confirms the khanda (Bhūmi), the embedded narrative unit (Vena), and the exact chapter boundary (Adhyāya 84), aiding citation and digital indexing.
