Narrator (describing the woman's request and the king's reply)

Concept: Affection carries responsibility: being ‘dear’ (supriyā) becomes a moral claim for attentive fulfillment, ideally guided by dharma.

Application: In close relationships, make requests with clarity and respect; in leadership, respond with calm speech rather than impulsive reaction.

Primary Rasa: shringara

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"The beloved woman steps closer, her expression earnest yet affectionate, as she repeats her request—‘Show me’—with the confidence of intimacy. The king turns toward her, composed and thoughtful, as if preparing to open a doorway to the heavens; the court around them pauses, sensing a sacred turning point.","primary_figures":["beloved woman (supriyā/varānanā)","King (Yayāti)","court attendants"],"setting":"palace threshold near the yajña pavilion, curtains stirring, ritual garlands fading, a sense of imminent journey","lighting_mood":"moonlit","color_palette":["silver white","deep indigo","lotus pink","antique gold","teal green"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: the beloved woman appealing to the king—close, intimate composition; gold leaf background, ornate throne and pillars, gem-studded ornaments, rich silk drapery; the king’s calm face turned toward her, hands poised as if to grant a visionary boon; decorative lotus borders.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: a quiet palace corridor at night, moonlight pooling on marble; the woman in soft pink veil speaks earnestly, the king listens with gentle gravity; delicate brushwork, refined expressions, cool nocturnal palette with subtle gold accents.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: iconic side-by-side figures with bold outlines; the woman’s gesture of request, the king’s gesture of assent; saturated indigo-red-yellow-green palette, patterned backdrop suggesting palace and ritual remnants, temple-wall narrative clarity.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central pair framed by lotus vines and ornate borders; night-sky indigo cloth with gold highlights; peacocks and floral motifs; the king poised to grant a celestial vision, devotional symmetry and intricate textile detailing."}

FAQs

The verse is narrated in third person: a woman addresses a king, and the king then speaks to his beloved; the specific names are not present in this single śloka.

It is an imperative request: “Please show (it), O noble/fortunate one,” expressing intimacy and expectation based on affection.

It highlights persuasion grounded in affection—she appeals to being “very dear” to him—followed by the king’s responsive engagement, a common narrative setup for revealing something significant.
