The Procedure for Offering Piṇḍa (Funerary Rice-balls) — Gayā-māhātmya

पिंडदानाद्यतस्तस्मात्प्रेतत्वान्मुच्यते नरः । महानदी प्रभासात्र्योः संगमे स्नानकृन्नरः ॥ ४ ॥

piṃḍadānādyatastasmātpretatvānmucyate naraḥ | mahānadī prabhāsātryoḥ saṃgame snānakṛnnaraḥ || 4 ||

Oleh itu, dengan melakukan persembahan piṇḍa dan upacara yang berkaitan, seseorang dibebaskan daripada keadaan sebagai preta. Demikian juga, sesiapa yang mandi di pertemuan Sungai Mahānadī dan Prabhāsātrī dilepaskan daripada keadaan preta itu.
