Yama’s Journey to Brahmaloka
Ekadashi–Dvadashi Mahatmya in the Rukmangada Cycle
सर्वे हि गरुडारूढा जना यांति हरेः पदम् । देवा नामपि ये लोकास्ते शून्या ह्यभवँस्तथा ॥ २१ ॥
sarve hi garuḍārūḍhā janā yāṃti hareḥ padam | devā nāmapi ye lokāste śūnyā hyabhavaṃstathā || 21 ||
Sesungguhnya semua makhluk, menunggang Garuḍa, menuju ke kediaman tertinggi di kaki Hari; bahkan alam-alam para dewa pun menjadi kosong demikian juga.
Narada (narrative voice within Uttara-Bhaga mahatmya-style description)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
The verse emphasizes Vishnu-centered liberation: those taken under Hari’s protection (symbolized by Garuḍa) reach Hari’s supreme abode, indicating transcendence beyond even heavenly realms.
By presenting Hari’s abode as the destination and Garuḍa as the divine conveyance, it conveys that surrender and devotion to Vishnu lead directly to the highest goal, surpassing the temporary rewards of deva-worlds.
No specific Vedanga (Śikṣā, Vyākaraṇa, Chandas, Nirukta, Jyotiṣa, Kalpa) is directly taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is doctrinal—prioritizing moksha through Vishnu-bhakti over pursuit of heavenly attainments.
