The Account of Kāṣṭhīlā (Kāṣṭhīlā-ākhyāna) within the Mohinī Narrative
Sanatkumara (addressing Narada in the dialogue tradition)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhayanaka
Secondary Rasa: bibhatsa
It draws a sharp boundary between rākṣasic nature and human dharma, warning that predatory, violent tendencies are fundamentally opposed to righteous living and spiritual progress.
By implication, it contrasts rākṣasic cruelty with the compassion and restraint expected of devotees; bhakti aligns one with sattva and protection of life, not exploitation.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or Kalpa) is taught directly; the verse functions more as a dharmic-ethical clarification within the Purāṇic narrative.
