The Greatness of the Gaṅgā
Narada (teaching within a dharma-upadesha context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
It asserts the inevitability of karmic retribution: harming others by body, mind, or speech becomes the direct cause of one’s downfall through daiva (providence), emphasizing strict moral accountability.
Bhakti in the Narada Purana is grounded in purity of conduct; non-harming in thought, word, and deed protects the heart from malice, making it fit for sincere devotion and remembrance of the Divine.
While not a technical Vedanga lesson, it practically applies dharmic discipline over vāk (speech) and manas (mind)—a key ethical foundation that supports Vedic study, mantra practice, and ritual correctness.
