Bhakti-Śraddhā-Ācāra-Māhātmya and the Commencement of the Mārkaṇḍeya Narrative
नमो हिरण्यगर्भाय नमो ब्रह्मादिरुपिणे । नमः सूर्य्यादिरुपाय हव्यकव्यभुजे नमः ॥ ६२ ॥
namo hiraṇyagarbhāya namo brahmādirupiṇe | namaḥ sūryyādirupāya havyakavyabhuje namaḥ || 62 ||
Sembah sujud kepada Hiraṇyagarbha; sembah sujud kepada-Mu yang mengambil rupa Brahmā dan para dewa lainnya. Sembah sujud kepada-Mu yang berwujud Surya dan segala yang lain; sembah sujud kepada-Mu, penerima persembahan suci bagi para dewa dan bagi leluhur.

It affirms the Purāṇic vision of one Supreme reality manifesting as cosmic creation (Hiraṇyagarbha), as deities like Brahmā, and as the solar principle, while also being the inner recipient of all sacrificial and ancestral offerings.
By offering repeated salutations to the Supreme in multiple recognizable forms, the verse models bhakti as reverent remembrance (stuti) that sees all divine functions—creation, illumination, and ritual reception—as belonging to the One.
It points to ritual categories used in Kalpa (Vedāṅga for rites): havya (deva-offerings) and kavya (pitṛ-offerings), clarifying that both streams of oblation are ultimately received by the same divine principle.
