Jñāna-pradarśanam
पुराणश्रवणं चैव पुराणपठनं तथा । वेदान्तपठनं चैव प्रत्यहं कुरु शक्तितः ॥ ५४ ॥
purāṇaśravaṇaṃ caiva purāṇapaṭhanaṃ tathā | vedāntapaṭhanaṃ caiva pratyahaṃ kuru śaktitaḥ || 54 ||
Setiap hari, sedaya upaya menurut kemampuanmu, lakukanlah mendengar Purāṇa, membaca Purāṇa, dan juga mempelajari Vedānta.
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada in the Purva Bhaga dialogue style)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It prescribes a daily sādhana centered on śravaṇa (listening) and pāṭha (study) of Purāṇas along with Vedānta, presenting regular scriptural engagement as a direct support for clarity, devotion, and liberation-oriented understanding.
Purāṇa-śravaṇa and Purāṇa-pāṭha are classic bhakti practices: hearing and reciting sacred narratives and teachings that steadily cultivate remembrance, faith, and devotion, while Vedānta study stabilizes that devotion with right vision.
The verse highlights practical svādhyāya (daily study discipline) rather than a specific Vedāṅga; it emphasizes consistent recitation/reading (pāṭha) and attentive hearing (śravaṇa) as actionable methods of scriptural learning.
