Prāyaścitta for Mahāpātakas and the Sin-destroying Power of Viṣṇu-smaraṇa
ब्रह्महत्याव्रतं सम्यक्तच्चिह्नपरिवर्जितः । यदि रोगानिवृत्त्यर्थमौषधार्थं सुरां पिबेत् ॥ २८ ॥
brahmahatyāvrataṃ samyaktaccihnaparivarjitaḥ | yadi rogānivṛttyarthamauṣadhārthaṃ surāṃ pibet || 28 ||
Jika seseorang sedang menjalani sumpah penebusan dosa untuk brahma-hatyā (dosa membunuh seorang brahmana) dengan betul, dan menghindari semua tanda luaran yang berkaitan dengannya, namun meminum arak hanya sebagai ubat untuk menyembuhkan penyakit, maka (ia dianggap) sebagai tujuan perubatan.
