Śrāddha-prayoga: Niyama, Brāhmaṇa-parīkṣā, Kutapa-kāla, Tithi-nyāya, and Vaiṣṇava-phala
तथातिकामुकश्चैव रसविक्रयकारकः । कूटयुक्तिरतश्चैव श्राद्धे वर्ज्याः प्रयत्नतः ॥ १८ ॥
tathātikāmukaścaiva rasavikrayakārakaḥ | kūṭayuktirataścaiva śrāddhe varjyāḥ prayatnataḥ || 18 ||
Demikian juga, orang yang terlalu dikuasai nafsu, yang memperdagangkan minuman memabukkan, dan yang gemar helah tipu daya—mereka hendaklah dijauhi dengan bersungguh-sungguh dalam upacara Śrāddha.

It teaches that śrāddha is a purity-sensitive pitṛ-kārya; the moral and occupational character of participants affects the sanctity of offerings, so those rooted in lust, intoxication-trade, and deceit are excluded.
By insisting on ethical restraint and truthful conduct as supports for sacred rites, it aligns bhakti with śuddhācāra (pure behavior), making devotion and ritual service worthy of divine and ancestral acceptance.
Kalpa (ritual procedure) is implied: it gives a practical eligibility rule (varjya) for śrāddha participants to preserve ritual correctness and purity.
