Maṅgalācaraṇa, Naimiṣāraṇya-Sabhā, Sūta-Āhvāna, and Narada Purāṇa-Māhātmya
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It teaches that Purāṇa-śravaṇa (listening to Purāṇic teachings) is not mere information-gathering; done with bhakti-bhāva, it reorients the buddhi toward dharma and devotion, becoming a direct means for inner transformation.
Bhakti is presented as both the required attitude and the resulting awakening: when one listens with devotion, the mind and intellect naturally begin to incline toward devotional life, making śravaṇa a practical entry-point into bhakti.
The verse emphasizes śravaṇa (systematic listening) as a disciplined learning method; while not naming a specific Vedāṅga, it aligns with the traditional pedagogy of Vedic study—receiving teachings through attentive hearing and reflection.
