हर्षस्थानसहस्राणि शोकस्थानशतानि च । दिवसे दिवसे मूढमाविशंति न पंडितम् ॥ २ ॥
harṣasthānasahasrāṇi śokasthānaśatāni ca | divase divase mūḍhamāviśaṃti na paṃḍitam || 2 ||
Beribu-ribu sebab kegembiraan dan beratus-ratus sebab kesedihan muncul dari hari ke hari—namun ia hanya menguasai orang yang dungu, bukan orang yang bijaksana.
