सममर्द्धसमं वृत्तं विषमं चापि नारद । तुल्यलक्षणतः पादचतुष्के सममुच्यते ॥ ७ ॥
samamarddhasamaṃ vṛttaṃ viṣamaṃ cāpi nārada | tulyalakṣaṇataḥ pādacatuṣke samamucyate || 7 ||
Wahai Nārada, wṛtta (meter) ada tiga jenis—sama, ardhasama, dan viṣama. Apabila keempat pāda mempunyai ciri metrum yang sama, itulah yang dinamakan “sama”.
