*ययातिरुवाच अधर्मो मां स्पृशेदेवं पापम् अस्याश्च भार्गव वर्णसंकरतो ब्रह्मन्न् इति त्वां प्रवृणोम्यहम् //
*yayātiruvāca adharmo māṃ spṛśedevaṃ pāpam asyāśca bhārgava varṇasaṃkarato brahmann iti tvāṃ pravṛṇomyaham //
Yayāti berkata: “Semoga adharma tidak menyentuhku demikian, dan jangan pula timbul dosa dalam hal dirinya. Wahai Bhārgava, wahai Brahmana—kerana takut akan kekacauan varṇa (varṇa-saṅkara), maka dalam perkara ini aku memilih engkau sebagai pihak berautoriti dan pembimbing yang wajar.”
