Adhyaya 82 — Death of Shumbha
The Goddess embodies the harmonious functioning of cosmic principles—nourishment (Soma), sovereignty (Indra), moral-cosmic order (Varuṇa), and stability (Earth).
Carita; descriptive theology that supports the ensuing combat narrative (dharma’s restoration through Devī).
The mapping of cosmic powers onto bodily regions suggests that the universe is mirrored in the divine body (and, by extension, in the subtle body). Devī’s form is a cosmogram: sovereignty, order, nourishment, and groundedness are integrated into one liberating power.
