Adhyaya 50 — Mind-Born Progeny, Svayambhuva Manu’s Lineage, and Brahmā’s Ordinance to Duḥsaha (Alakṣmī’s Retinue)
शतरूपाञ्च तां नारीं तपोनिर्धूतकल्मषाम् ।
स्वायम्भुवो मनुर्देवः पत्नीत्वे जगृहे विभुः ॥
śatarūpāṃ ca tāṃ nārīṃ taponirdhūtakalmaṣām | svāyambhuvo manur devaḥ patnītve jagṛhe vibhuḥ ||
Dan Svāyambhuva Manu, yang perkasa, mengambil wanita itu, Śatarūpā—yang segala kekotorannya telah dibakar oleh tapa—sebagai isterinya.
Householder life (gṛhastha) is grounded in inner purification: even the primordial couple is portrayed as tapas-purified, suggesting that progeny and social order should rest on self-discipline.
Manvantara and Vaṃśa: establishment of the primal human pair through whom lineages proceed.
Śatarūpā (‘hundred-formed’) can symbolize prakṛti’s many modalities; union with Manu (law/mind) indicates order guiding multiplicity into coherent creation.
