विराट उवाच क्व स वीरो महाबाहहुर्देवपुत्रो महायशा: । यो मे धनमथाजैषीत् कुरुभिग्रस्तमाहवे,विराटने पूछा--बेटा! वह महायशस्वी महाबाहु वीर देवपुत्र कहाँ है, जिसने युद्धमें कौरवोंद्वारा काबूमें की हुई मेरी गौओंको जीता है? जिस देवकुमारने तुम्हें और मेरी गौओंको भी बचाया है, मैं उस महापराक्रमी वीरको देखना और उसका सत्कार करना चाहता हूँ
virāṭa uvāca kva sa vīro mahābāhur devaputro mahāyaśāḥ | yo me dhanam athājaiṣīt kurubhir grastam āhave ||
Virāṭa bertanya: “Di manakah wira perkasa, berlengan gagah dan termasyhur itu—pahlawan laksana putera dewa? Dialah yang dalam pertempuran merebut kembali ternak lembuku yang telah dirampas oleh kaum Kuru. Aku ingin melihat dan memuliakan juara agung itu, kerana dialah yang melindungi engkau dan juga kawanan lembuku.”
